Steve Phillips – Licensed Technician

Steve is a Red Seal Certified Automotive Technician, born and raised in the Halifax area.  He has worked at Halifax BMW and Hillcrest VW gaining dealership level experience and technical training.  He has also worked at other Euro independent shops in the Halifax area such as All Euro Automotive and Harrington’s VW.

Steve also spent an extensive amount of time working in professional racing as a mechanic building and tuning such marques as BMW, Porsche, Aston Martin, Audi, VW, and Mazda in series from IMSA, Grand Am, ALMS, Speed World Challenge, Mazda MX5 Cup.  These experiences included visiting all the major sportscar tracks across North America, working the major endurance races such as The 24 Hours Of Daytona, 12 Hours of Sebring, Petit Lemans, and the 25 Hours Of Thunderhill.  Car building, prep, setup, and pit stops were just some of the numerous duties and experiences gained. He also spent time working at a Vintage racing shop at Sonoma Raceway in California taking care of classic cars from IMSA, Trans Am and Nascar.

Steve is also an amateur racer with plenty of experience in regional and local autoslalom competition as well as road racing at Atlantic Motorsport Park in Shubenacadie NS.

Steve currently drives an E92 M3 and has a heavily modified E36 318is with an S54B32 swap stuffed away in the garage for sunny days.

Outside of cars, Steve is a beer league hockey player plugging away in the Sackville Gents Hockey League, and is a big fan of the Philadelphia Flyers.


Philip Tuff – Service Manager

Philip Tuff is the man at the front counter for ISI Automotive.  If you call or drop in you will be greeted by Philip’s high levels of professionalism and knowledge.   He has a vast history with BMW and has filled almost every position at Halifax BMW and Maranello BMW in Toronto over the past 20 years.

Philip is a certified car nut.  He is well versed in BMW classic as well as engine building and tuning.  He is the go to guy for S14 tuning and rare BMW Motorsports parts from sources in Germany and the USA.  He has been building and modifying a 1981 BMW 320i for over 20 years with many different engine configurations, always evolving to keep up with current trends and technologies.

Philip has been a long time member of the BMW Club Atlantic and enjoys helping new members learn to how to properly drive their BMW’s through their high performance driving schools.  He has also competed in amateur road racing events at Atlantic Motorsport Park, driving one of the Vantage Volkswagen GTI race cars.

He currently has a 1990 VW Golf as a daily driver in the summer months, a 2006 BMW X3 as his beater, and the above mentioned 1981 320i for those special days.

Outside of cars Philip is a fan of great punk music and is a high end audio enthusiast.  He currently resides in Halifax with his room mates a race prepped S14 cylinder head and 2.7 bottom end.  They will be evicted soon and installed in the 320i.
